In partnership with different Christian Societies , Social initiatives and organizations,
Politicians and Youth-leaders in the Malmö Community,
Event to find a way together to combat the growing gang-related crimes in Sweden and the
recruitment of children into criminal activities. Over the last few years shootings and gang related violence with fatalities as a result
has become a big problem in Sweden. Politicians in the municipalities have realized
that in order to face this challenge, churches and the civil society at large, has to be
involved.
This weekend (20-22) in September, discussions, brunch meetings and church services
took place under the theme: “There is hope in Malmö.” Wfwp Sweden could participate
as one of 17 organizations. Sweden is known as a very secular country and this
initiative was the first of its kind in Malmö.
Sebastian Stakset, a notorious member of a gang had a religious experience with
Jesus, felt grace and forgiveness and turned his life around completely. He decided to
help others to have hope and to find ways out of the gangs and destructive lifestyles. A
film was made about his life now showcasing in all of Sweden to show the brutal reality
of the gang life. This weekend could be seen as follow up discussion after the release
of the movie a week earlier as Sebastian Stakset was invited as the main speaker.
