Celebration of International Women's Day on 08/03/2014 in Northern England: WFWP UK got together in the Hindu Temple, Huddersfield to celebrate the International Women's Day on 08/03/2014. Our Chair person, Kiran Bali chaired this event starting with introductions of oneself one by one to get to know each other. We explored words that symbolise women; such as Inspiration, love, peace. Video clips of Women's Day from all over the world were shown as well as the message from Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka, the UN Womens Executive Director, which was that UN Women should stand strong for women's rights, womens empowerment gender equality. And equality for women is progress for all...... Then each person described an inspirational women from their life knowledge; Indhira Gandhi, the Queen, the Queen Mother, Mother Theresa, Mrs Bali(Kiran's mother), Mother Moon etc. Refreshments were served by Mrs Bali, Mr Gossal and Mr Singh. We were invited to join the Hindu Service afterwards.
