Mrs Quizhen Yuan Ljasevits invited us her home in High Green, Sheffield to celebrate Chinese New Year. Its theme was “'Let's make Chinese Dumplings and celebrate the New Year of the Horse”. Originally from the northwest of China. Mrs Ljasevits went to study first in Kazakistan then in Moscow where she met her Estonian husband, Peter Ljasevits. She speaks Chi...nese with her daughters and Russian with her husband. We were shown how to make Chinese dumplings. First, pastry made with just plain flour with water and second a filling made with minced beef, onions, eggs, mushroom and a little salt, pepper and oil. Everybody made and ate Chinese dumplings including the children, the youngest of which was 2 years old. It gave us great enjoyment making and tasting the Chinese cuisine and celebrating the Chinese New Year. The meeting was attended by eights ladies, three men and five children. Report by Mrs Fusae Mollie Spencer on behalf of WFWP North.
