Photos of the first day of the recent conference in Geneva on the theme "Toward Peace and Reconciliation in Syria: the Significance of Religion, Faith based Organizations and Civil Society". WFWP and UPF co-sponsored this so important convention along with other relevant groups. One of our very special guest speakers was Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Mairead Corrigan Maguire. It was concurrent with the "Geneva II" intergovernmental conference that aimed to bring about a peaceful solution of the crisis in Syria. The intention of the conference was to convene a wide variety of civil society representatives, including youth, women, religious and spiritual leaders, academicians, in order to supplement the "Track One" initiative of Geneva II with a "Track Two" program that underscores the need to engage other relevant actors in the pursuit of peace. This convention took place on 23 and 24 January 2014 at the UN Geneva, Switzerland. These are photos of the sessions on the first day. The images below contain the program listing the speakers.
